Tales of Siege [in Kashmir]

This documentary from 2016 adds context to the current situation in Kashmir. On August 5, 2019, the Indian Central Government revoked Article 370 - the special status of Jammu and Kashmir. Many parts of Kashmir have remained under lockdown ever since. No internet access, no school, no supplies, no economic activities, no mobile phone, no prayers in the Mosque. The authorities eased the blockade in some regions in Kashmir, but many parents in Srinagar, Kashmir’s main city, couldn't send their children to school fearing further unrest.

This video was produced by Raconteur, a video channel organised and managed by the youth of Kashmir. They work as freelancers to cover the plight of common people, uncovering stories that remain buried and highlighting voices that remain unheard.
