Dayak Tomun Vows to Defend Their Mother

On February 2018, Sawit Mandiri Lestari Limited (SML) cut down and destroyed 1.252 acres of the indigenous forest without consultation with the local Dayak Tomun tribe living in Central Kalimantan Province in Indonesia for centuries. SML cleared the land to cultivate a palm oil plantation in the area surrounding the Kubung village sub-district of Delang, Central Kalimantan Province. In response, the Dayak Tomun tribe vowed to protect the remaining forest for their children and future generations.
