Arohuai (Missing Home)

Amos Wainggai is one of the passengers of a refugee boat that brought Papuan activists to Australia. In January 2006, a traditional outrigger boat sailed from West Papua for five days, and arrived at the far north of Cape York, Queensland, Australia. Political tension between Australia and Indonesia ensued when the Australian government granted the refugees temporary protection visas. This is a story about 30 men, 6 women and 7 children who now call Australia their home.

This film by Dery Prananda (director/writer) & Kartika Pratiwi (writer/ producer) received awards in the ReelOzInd Australia Indonesia Short Film Festival 2017 in three categories - Best Documentary, Best Collaboration, and Co-Best Film.
